Charlotte – Personal bankruptcy among consumers is more common than ever. Financial planners are among the first to spot clients’ cash-flow problems. Clients may consult financial planners for advice when a family member, employee, or friend reaches out for assistance with debts. And financial planners are not immune to the factors that lead to bankruptcy, such as divorce, business failure, and illness.
Essex Richards attorney Heather Culp will lay out what financial planners need to know about personal bankruptcy at a lunch and talk on Tuesday, January 20, 11:30 am, at Myers Park Country Club. The club is located at 2415 Roswell Avenue in Charlotte.
Culp’s presentation is part of a monthly lunch series from the Financial Planning Association of Charlotte. The cost is $45 for non-members registering by January 16, and $48 afterwards. Register at www.fpacharlotte.org.
Culp will explain the goals of personal bankruptcy, the most common types of bankruptcy available to individuals and married couples, how to choose among them, and more.
