The law firm of ESSEX RICHARDS, P.A., is seeking a qualified Family Law Associate Attorney with strong client relations skills to join the team. The qualified candidate will be responsible for preparing and filing legal documents, attending court proceedings, and providing advice to Family Law clients. The successful candidate will be professional, resourceful, and exhibit exceptional communications skills, both verbally and in writing, with excellent negotiating and debating skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possess a working knowledge of Family Law legal matters, including but not limited to: Divorce, Property and Financial Settlements, Child Custody, Child Support, Paternity, Domestic Violence, Prenuptial Agreements, Alternative Dispute Resolution;
- Take direction from the Supervising Partners within the Family Law Practice Group;
- Determine clients’ legal issues that arise amongst the clients and their respective family members;
- Utilize legal remedies to produce the best-possible outcomes for the clients;
- Coordinate with staff on the preparation and filing of legal pleadings for each case;
- Respond to urgent needs of the clients;
- Attend court proceedings and trials;
- Regularly update clients on status of their cases;
- Any other duties as may be directed by the Supervising Partners within the Family Law Group.
REQUIREMENTS:
- JD degree from an accredited law school;
- License to practice law in North Carolina;
- Active member in good standing of the North Carolina State Bar;
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills;
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills;
- Prior litigation experience a plus.
