On October 6, Essex Richards was proud to sponsor the Young Black Leadership Alliance’s (YBLA) Legacy Builders Luncheon event. Event proceeds support the organization’s programming and scholarships.
YBLA was formed in 2006 with the mission of developing young Black high school students into leaders who are college and career ready and become change agents in their community and beyond.
“The media often portrays Black youth, especially young Black men, in negative ways. YBLA is helping to change the narrative,” says Anne Essaye, YBLA’s board chair. “YBLA focuses on the positive. They work with youth who sometimes are counted out and create leaders who are college graduates and impactful leaders. This benefits everyone. If you lift up one part of the community, you lift up the whole community.”
